Beyond Academic Excellence: Transforming Master’s Students into Future-ready Professionals

As the academic year began, the Faculty of Social Sciences has launched a series of career development events to empower our master’s students. With the successful completion of several events in the first two months, the Faculty is pleased to highlight their positive impact on participants.

The TPg Career Development Orientation, held in collaboration with CEDARS, showcased insights from the “Industry Report for Early Careers”. Participants were introduced to the breadth of resources offered by CEDARS and the Faculty, gaining practical guidance to kick-start their professional journeys.

The RPg Admissions Seminar for Sociology provided students with in-depth guidance on admissions committees’ screening criteria and addressed common application pitfalls. Participants also benefited from direct engagement with professors, receiving expert advice on research proposals. Participants reported greater clarity and confidence in pursuing further academic pursuits.

The series of Academic Writing Workshops for “A” Grade Papers, guided students toward academic excellence and integrity. Participants were introduced practical tips for “A” grade writing, AI tools for research and organisation, and anti-plagiarism strategies.

The Faculty is committed to enhancing the career readiness and professional development of our master’s students. More training sessions will be organised throughout the academic year to enhance students’ career competencies and industry awareness.
