HKU Social Sciences Student Honoured with Innovation and Technology Scholarship for Pioneering Mental Health Initiative

The Faculty is proud to share that Kristen Lei, our BPsych student, has been awarded the prestigious “Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2025” by the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government, HSBC and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.

“I am grateful for the award. It has supported our FLOWER Project at the Hong Kong Society of Psychological Innovation (HKSPI), where we blend technology, AI, and VR into mental health psychoeducation for secondary schools in Hong Kong. Our HKSPI team is excited to equip Hong Kong students with holistic wellness tools and empower youth in mental health advocacy through our Psychology Ambassador Programme and Tech Apprenticeship,” said Kristen, our BPsych student and Founder & Chairman of HKSPI.

The FLOWER Project was showcased at the Psychology & Mental Health Fair hosted by HKSPI.

Kristen’s achievement exemplifies the innovative spirit of our students and the transformative potential of combining psychology with technology. We congratulate her on this milestone and look forward to seeing her continue to lead positive change.
