The Faculty of Social Sciences launched Internship Week 2026 with an energising overview of the 2026 SIGC Summer Internship, held on January 28 at the Social Sciences Function Room. The event attracted a vibrant audience of students eager to kickstart their professional journeys this summer.
A major highlight of the opening session was the prize presentation for the inaugural SIGC Internship Video Competition 2025. We were honoured to welcome Professor Ming Wen, Dean of Social Sciences, and Professor Samson Tse, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education), as distinguished guests and prize presenters. Their presence and words of encouragement added prestige to the occasion, celebrating the creativity and dedication of our top student storytellers. The winning students captivated the audience by sharing their unique internship experiences—offering valuable insights, practical tips, and inspiring stories of overcoming challenges and achieving success. The winning videos are showcased at https://www.socsc.hku.hk/sigc/video-competition/.
Following the prize presentation, the session offered an in-depth look at the diverse internship opportunities available. Led by the Experiential Learning Team, it provided practical advice on the application process and strategies for selecting placements that align with students’ academic and career aspirations. Attendees left with essential tips for making the most of their summer internships.
The event not only equipped students with valuable information and inspiration but also fostered a strong sense of community as faculty, staff, and students came together. We are proud to support and recognise student achievements and look forward to empowering more students through future experiential learning opportunities.
