HKU Social Sciences Student Honoured as Outstanding Tertiary Student of Hong Kong 2025

Cherry Tam from the Faculty of Social Sciences (FOSS) at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) received the “Ten Outstanding Tertiary Students of Hong Kong 2025” award, celebrated at a ceremony on September 13, 2025.

“Supported by HKU and FOSS, I evolved from a pianist into an advocate for interdisciplinary learning, death education, and mental health awareness, while dedicating myself to creating innovative solutions to contribute to society as a budding entrepreneur. FOSS encouraged me to organise fundraising projects at the Jockey Club Home for Hospice through SIGC, and the BASc(IS) programme equipped me to address social issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. These experiences have clarified my aspirations and commitment to social impact, paving the way for my journey as a cross-disciplinary entrepreneur,” said Cherry.

The HKU Faculty of Social Sciences is dedicated to holistic education, fostering globally minded leaders who merge academic rigour with real-world impact.

Awarded by the Hong Kong Youth and Tertiary Students Association, this annual honour identifies and nurtures tertiary students who demonstrate academic excellence, civic responsibility, and a strong commitment to societal progress. Organised to champion holistic development, the initiative inspires future leaders to embrace social responsibility and contribute meaningfully to national advancement.
