As the semester progresses, the Faculty of Social Sciences continues to foster our taught postgraduate students’ professional development through a series of interactive and inspiring career development workshops. October and November were filled with valuable learning experiences that helped students enhance confidence and employability for their career journeys.

The workshop From Good to Great: Crafting a Standout CV and a Cover Letter guided students to enhance their job applications with clarity and impacts. Students learned how to present their strengths strategically, highlight achievements, and tailor their profiles to different career goals.

In Speak with Impact: Presentations and Impromptu Talks, students discovered effective techniques to communicate persuasively and build professional persona strategically in the workplace. Through practice and feedback, they gained frameworks and strategies in delivering key messages and responding spontaneously in public speaking situations.

Meanwhile, From Wardrobe to Network: Building Your Professional Brand inspired students to develop their distinct professional identities by understanding various dress codes and mastering small talks with proper etiquette in different contexts. In this engaging session, they explored how personal presentation and networking can work together to enhance their professional image.

In addition to these in-person workshops, the Faculty is delighted to launch the online career platform, a new initiative developed in collaboration with mShare. This exclusive online resource provides students with valuable tools, market insights, and recruitment information to support their career aspirations in Chinese Mainland.

The Faculty remains dedicated to empowering students throughout their academic and professional journeys. Further career development activities will be organised in the coming semester, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared to thrive in a dynamic landscape.
