The coursework at the Faculty of Social Sciences provided a solid foundation in the social sciences for Donald, opening his mind to entrepreneurial thinking and showing him how ideas can become impactful. His volunteering work as Lead Project Coordinator at Quo Vadis, serving multi-ethnic students in the community, along with his initiatives at the University Hall, allowed him to put into practice what he had learned. These experiences not only gave him valuable knowledge and experiences, but also the confidence to take on his current role at a digital transformation consultancy firm.

The Social Innovation and Global Citizenship (SIGC) requirements led Donald to an internship at the Hong Kong Dignity Institute, giving him hands-on exposure to societal challenges. The 3-campus East Asian exchange programme also took him to Japan and Korea, which opened his eyes to the complexity and interconnectedness of the Asia region.

The FOSS Mentorship Programme at HKU was a transformative experience, offering thoughtful guidance, immersive cultural events, and inspiring intellectual discussions.

One of the most memorable moments was attending a musical performance organized by his mentor, which showed him how thoughtful planning and cultural engagement can bring people together in ways that leave a lasting impact. Career-focused talks surrounded him with mentors and peers, engaging him in discussions about ethics, global issues, and personal development.

Through comprehensive learning and experiences at HKU Social Sciences, Donald had a fruitful and multifaceted journey that connected the dots between academic life and the workplace, giving him the tools and perspective to move forward with confidence.
