AI, Brains, Scams and Your Future Career: Lunch Chat with Google and WeChat

The Faculty hosted the lunch chat “AI, Brains, Scams and Your Future Career” on April 10, 2026 at the Social Sciences Function Room. Co‑organised with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the event was open to the public and all HKU members.

The lunch chat brought together speakers from government, industry, and academia, including Mr Alan Au, Executive Director (Banking Conduct), HKMA; Mr Michael Yung, Strategic Advisor, Google Cloud; Mr Jared Jiang, Deputy General Manager, Tencent Cloud; and Professor Benjamin Becker, Director of the MIND & AI Lab, Department of Psychology, HKU.

The speakers shared perspectives on how artificial intelligence is reshaping work, communication, and future careers, with a particular focus on digital trust, safety, and emerging risks such as AI‑enabled scams.

The panel was followed by a sandwich lunch, offering an opportunity for informal discussion and networking among students, academics, and industry guests.
Hosted under the Faculty’s Strategic Research Theme: AI, Society, and Social Dynamics,” the event provided a valuable platform for cross‑sector exchange. The Faculty would like to extend its sincere thanks to all speakers for their inspiring sharing and meaningful contributions.
