Join us to experience the transformation journey of Lai Chi Wo and Mui Tsz Lam, from neglect to renewal, led by HKU Faculty of Social Sciences (FOSS), with the Centre for Civil Society and Governance (CCSG) catalysing sustainable revival through major partnerships with Hongkong Bank Foundation and local nonprofits. This FOSS outreach is a landmark initiative guided by Dr. Winnie Law, a highly regarded sustainability and urban planning leader. It showcases UNESCO-recognized impact and over a decade of research. Let’s celebrate the revitalisation of Hong Kong’s heritage and community life and see how long-term dedication creates lasting footprints across HK society, for future generations.
During this full-day tour, you will first enjoy a guided tour exploring Lai Chi Wo and village surroundings, learning about local revitalisation initiatives and tasting traditional Hakka cuisine. In the afternoon, you will discover more about the area’s unique culture and biodiversity of the neighbouring Mui Tsz Lam. The tour and the activities will be conducted in Cantonese.
Complimentary shuttle bus and speedboat service will be provided by FOSS. Participants shall cover their own expenses for lunch. Lunch payment details will be provided after registration is confirmed.
