As part of our ongoing commitment to uphold the highest standards of research ethics and integrity, the Faculty recently held a series of mandatory Research Integrity (RI) training sessions during the reading week in March 2026. These sessions aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of ethical research practices among key academic and research personnel as well as research postgraduate (RPg) students.

Four identical sessions were conducted, with two specifically designed for all professoriate staff, Research Assistant Professors, and Postdoctoral Fellows, and two tailored for RPg students. The sessions attracted outstanding participation, reflecting the Faculty community’s strong dedication to fostering a culture of integrity.
The Faculty was honoured to host Dr. Mark Israel, Executive Director and Senior Consultant of Australasian Human Research Ethics Consultancy Services, who led the comprehensive training. Dr. Israel covered crucial topics including:
– The fundamental principles of research integrity
– Common causes of research misconduct
– International, national, and local guidelines governing research ethics
– The responsibilities of researchers in maintaining integrity
– Practical applications of research integrity in areas such as authorship and the use of generative AI
– Identifying and addressing research misconduct
Attendees acknowledged the sessions’ relevance and underscored the importance of ethical conduct at all levels of research.
The Faculty remains committed to promoting ethical research practices and will continue to offer training and resources to support researchers and students in maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
