A Taste of University Life: HKU Social Sciences Exploration Days

In February 2026, the HKU Faculty of Social Sciences (FOSS) hosted an exciting series of ‘Exploration Days’, offering prospective students a firsthand glimpse into university life.

Welcoming over 220 secondary school students, the lively event featured guided campus tours led by our dedicated student ambassadors, alongside a series of engaging mock lectures in Sociology, Social Work, and Geography.

Attendees were given a true taste of our dynamic curriculum. They discovered how sociologists debunk common myths surrounding cultural heritage and explored how urban geographers analyse city development. A particular highlight was a captivating lecture delivered by Professor Samson Tse, Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning), who explored the complex definition of addiction and its profound impact on psychological well-being.

Through our admissions outreach initiatives at FOSS, we are passionate about sharing the fascinating world of the social sciences with the next generation. Be sure to follow our admissions social media channel for more exciting updates and upcoming events!
