Mentorship Get-Together
At the Faculty of Social Sciences, we are grateful to have such a warm, engaged, and inspiring alumni community. Our alumni demonstrate their strong connection to their alma mater by actively giving back their time, experience, and professional insights to support the next generation of HKU Social Sciences students.
Through FOSS Mentorship Programme, alumni mentors connect with current student mentees, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical advice for personal growth and career development. The programme fosters a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere of sharing and learning, bringing together mentors and mentees across different cohorts, backgrounds, and career paths.
On April 29, the Faculty organised a Mentorship Get-Together event, which proved highly rewarding for both mentors and mentees. Mentors shared their professional journeys, challenges, and lessons learned, while students bring fresh perspectives, curiosity, and new ideas. Through these meaningful interactions, new networks and strong bonds are built within the Social Sciences community.
Industry Sharing
During the Faculty’s “Career Jam” event on April 18, our 10 alumni mentors further supported our senior students by sharing their industry expertise and practical tips on preparing for various career sectors.
By hearing directly from alumni working in different industries, students gain a clearer understanding of career options, workplace expectations, industry trends, and the skills needed to succeed. These conversations help students connect their academic learning with real-world opportunities, equipping them to become career-ready Social Sciences graduates.
