Career Development Bootcamps: Preparing Master’s Students for What’s Next

As graduation season approaches, the Faculty of Social Sciences hosted two Career Development Bootcamps in March and April, designed to assist Master’s students in enhancing their job-search readiness and strengthening their professional confidence.

The first Bootcamp, Get Shortlisted with Edge, focused on professional career branding through CV enhancement and LinkedIn profile development. Students learned to position their strengths strategically, highlight achievements effectively, and craft a compelling professional identity that stands out to employers. Students also gained valuable insights into Hong Kong’s job market landscape and various career pathways across corporate sectors.

The second Bootcamp, Get Selected with Impactoffered practical preparation for the recruitment process. Students sharpened their interview techniques, practised workplace etiquette and learned to weave more compelling narratives. Through interactive simulations and expert coachingthey discovered how to communicate confidently and leave positive impressions in professional settings. The session also featured insights from the latest HKU Graduate Employment Survey, which helped students better understand current recruitment trends and set realistic expectations for their next career steps.

Beyond skill-building, the Bootcamps provided a welcoming space for connection, where students expanded their professional networks and built friendship over light refreshments.

With Semester 2 drawing to an end, the Faculty extends its best wishes to our Master’s students as they embark on their job search. Encouraged by the positive feedback and active participation, the Faculty remains committed to enabling our Master’s students to lead their career journey with confidence.
