Dean’s MessageProfessor Ming Wen
Social Sciences are all about humans and societies, you will be given ample opportunities to study about the day-to-day issues around us. For example, you can learn about the development of cities’ infrastructure through Geography; international relations and how the political systems work through Politics and Public Administration; human minds, behaviours and cognition through Psychology, social issues and the development strategies of social policies through Social Work and Social Administration; cultural identity in different communities under globalisation through Sociology; and the evolution of new medias and technologies through Journalism and Media Studies.
Another feature of our curricula emphasises experiential learning, bringing together our students and the community partners to work together for the real-world problems. We are also committed to nurturing global citizens with strong values of inclusiveness who can make positive impact to the world. All our students are required to gain off-campus experiences both locally and internationally, such that they get a different perspective to create innovate solutions to tackle social problems.
Our Faculty has a long tradition of producing future leaders. Our graduates have promising careers after graduation in the private, education, and non-profit sectors. I sincerely hope to have you joining us to experience and explore for yourselves the meaningful and enriching opportunities offered by our Faculty and HKU.
