HKU Reunion at the Races 2026: A Gathering of Excellence and Fellowship
On June 7, 2026 (Saturday), The Faculty of Social Sciences welcomed supporters, alumni and friends of the Faculty at Shatin Racecourse for the annual HKU Reunion at the Races.
This year, the Faculty hosted dedicated Social Sciences tables that brought together a distinctive mix of guests: partners from public, private and non‑profit sectors, friends of the Faculty’s Social Venture Lab, and dedicated alumni.
The afternoon served as a platform for the Faculty to thank these supporters and to deepen relationships with stakeholders who contribute to its impact in multiple ways. Guests enjoyed the opportunity to connect with faculty members, gain insights into the Faculty’s latest developments, and explore potential areas for collaboration, ranging from internship opportunities for students to community-based projects.
The HKU Reunion at the Races 2026 was therefore not only a festive afternoon, but also an important moment for the Faculty to recognise and strengthen the network of friends and partners that stand alongside its academic and alumni community.

A highlight of the occasion was the participation of Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor of
the University of Hong Kong, who joined Faculty members and guests for a celebratory toast.

Supporters of the HKU Faculty of Social Sciences, including representatives from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, friends of the Faculty’s
Social Venture Lab, and dedicated alumni, gathered to celebrate and toast to the continued success of the Faculty’s innovative initiatives.
FOSS Shenzhen Reunion Dinner: Building Bridges Across Borders
Expanding on the tradition of connection, the Faculty of Social Sciences was delighted to host its first-ever reunion dinner in Shenzhen on June 27, 2026 (Saturday). This milestone event brought together graduates from both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, many of whom are now making significant contributions to Shenzhen’s vibrant professional landscape. The evening was filled with warmth and nostalgia, as participants reminisced about their time at HKU. Faculty representatives provided insights into recent developments and new initiatives, further strengthening the bond between the Faculty and its alumni abroad.
Alumni shared enthusiastically about their journeys since graduation, the unique experiences of living and working in Shenzhen, and their hopes for continued connection with the Faculty. The enthusiastic participation and positive energy of the evening reflected the strong bonds that unite our community, regardless of time or distance.

As the Faculty continues to expand its outreach and engagement initiatives, we remain deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our alumni and friends. Looking ahead, the Faculty is excited to explore new cities and new opportunities for reunion, confident that the spirit of collaboration and mutual encouragement will continue to drive our collective success.
We invite all members of our community to stay connected, participate in future events, and help us write the next chapter in the story of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Together, we are stronger, locally, regionally, and globally.
