Two Faculty Scholars Ranked Among China’s Top 10 in Research.com 2026 Rankings

The Faculty of Social Sciences is immensely proud to announce that two of our distinguished scholars, Professor Paul S. F. Yip and Professor Tarani Chandola, have been ranked among the top 10 in China in the 2026 Research.com Best Social Sciences and Humanities Scientists Ranking.

Professor Paul S. F. Yip (Chair Professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, Director of the University’s HKJC Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention) has achieved the remarkable position of 1st in China and 43rd globally. This prestigious placement is a testament to his profound scholarly impact, reflected in an outstanding D-index of 109, an impressive 580 publications, and over 210,000 citations.

Furthermore, we are delighted to share that Professor Tarani Chandola (Head of Department of Sociology, Director of Methods Hub of Research, Policy and Practice) has secured the 10th position in China and 702nd globally. His impactful contributions are  reflected in a D-index of 69, 225 publications, and over 20,000 citations.

This recognition underscores the Faculty’s leadership in advancing impactful social sciences research and its continued commitment to addressing critical societal challenges through academic excellence.
