The Social Data Practitioner Workshop Series organised by the MSocSc (Social Data Analytics) Programme is designed to equip participants with updated knowledge through insights shared by social data practitioners and industry experts, enhancing their acumen in the field.Β Β

The first workshop of the series was held successfully on March 19, 2025. Participants had gain invaluable insights from Dr. Wei Hu, Principal Economist at the Hong Kong Competition Commission, who delivered a thought-provoking session on the pivotal role of data analysis in Competition Economics.Β

The workshop shed light on key areas such as antitrust practices, competition law enforcement, and the application of data-driven approaches to foster fair market practices. Dr Hu’s expertise provided participants with a deeper understanding of how data analytics empowers authorities, like the Hong Kong Competition Commission, to address economic challenges and promote equitable competition.Β

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hu for his insightful talk, which has equipped attendees with practical knowledge and inspiration to apply data analysis in real-world competition scenarios.Β
