Pursuing research study has been one of the career options for our taught postgraduate students. To provide interested students with more guidance regarding PhD study and the application process, the Faculty organised an informative seminar on March 23.
Moderated by Professor Eric Fong, the Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning), the seminar featured two Departmental Research Postgraduate Committee (DRPC) Chairpersons who provided their perspectives on how to prepare standout PhD applications that attract the admissions committee’s attention.
During the seminar, Professor Zhiwu Chen, DRPC Chairperson and Director of the Hong Kong Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences, kickstarted the discussion by showcasing the placement details of our PhD graduates and illustrating his passion for creating new knowledge by summarising his studies. “Do not let the application template restrict you from being an independent scholar,” advised by Professor Kai Quek, DRPC Chairperson and Associate Professor from the Department of Politics and Public Administration.
The Faculty is committed to recruiting the most exceptional students for our PhD programme. Through this seminar, more students were introduced to the prospect of embarking on their research journey.
