Career Development for Graduating Students: Crafting a Professional Personal Brand
In April, the Faculty of Social Sciences arranged two upskilling workshops as part of the workshop series that began in March to promote the employability of our graduating students from undergraduate and taught postgraduate curricula. The two workshops in April focused on cultivating our students’ ability to craft and project their professional profiles.
The first workshop, titled “Personal Branding on LinkedIn,” introduced students to build their professional digital presence by transforming their CVs. While LinkedIn was new to some of our students, they began to learn how to leverage the platform for professional networking. One student shared, “I now understand how to enhance the visibility of my profile.”
“Workplace Etiquette and Communication”, the title of the second workshop, addressed the norms and implicit rules in the professional world. From meeting etiquette to face-to-face interactions, this workshop equipped students with the knowledge and techniques to confidently navigate workplace dynamics. One student summarised the key takeaway: “Be proactive and attentive to how we position ourselves through daily behaviours.”
With the completion of the workshops in April, the Career Development Workshop Series for this semester has successfully concluded. The Faculty is grateful for the participation and support of our students and will continue to nurture our future-ready talents within and beyond their studies.
