The BPsych curriculum provides diverse opportunities and disciplines within the field of psychology for us to explore. They are also offering sufficient credits for us to pursue second major/minors aligning with our interests like neuroscience or criminology, as well as those offered by other faculties. The department has also launched new courses tailored specifically for BPsych students, like field placement, which provides us with invaluable real-world clinical experience, and advanced quantitative methods to equip us with comprehensive and sophisticated skills for research to help students better prepare for their future pursuit of opportunities and career pathways of their choices.

The BPsych programme has been my first choice for a multitude of reasons, one of them being its relevance to the career I intend to pursue in the future and another being the reputation of the University’s Department of Psychology. HKU provides quality education in psychology and opportunities and freedom in regard to learning, encouraging me to work hard for my courses and those offered by other faculties. In the future, by majoring in both Psychology and Neuroscience, I hope to develop an in-depth understanding of theories and applications of psychology as well as the biological basis of human cognition.

I chose HKU's BPsych programme because I loved studying psychology in high school and HKU had the best psychology department in Hong Kong. I think psychology at HKU can be very different from what students expect, it's not just memorising studies and writing essays. You get far more freedom to study the topics in psychology that you're interested in. I've also had plenty of opportunities to explore psychology outside of my studies, like attending the International Psychology Student Congress. If you love psychology and love to challenge themselves, the department also offers 2nd major options in cognitive science or neuroscience!
