Social Venture Lab Inaugural Summer Bootcamp Concludes with Student-Led Solutions

The HKU Social Venture Lab (SV Lab) recently concluded its Summer Bootcamp, Next Station: Social Innovation for Inclusion, which brought together over 40 students to tackle a challenge set by MTR: creating more inclusive and safer journeys for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Through training sessions and a site visit, participants examined the challenge from multiple perspectives and worked in cross-disciplinary teams to develop practical solutions. Team 6 proposed an approach that combines physical and digital navigation support to improve barrier-free access at MTR entrances.

2nd Runner-up: Team 4

SV Lab would like to acknowledge the support of MTR as the programme partner, together with Techno-Entrepreneurship Core and Caritas Mok Cheung Sui Kun Community Centre, whose contributions helped create a meaningful, real-world learning experience for participants.

The bootcamp reflects SV Lab’s commitment to nurturing socially driven ventures and entrepreneurial capabilities among students, while fostering collaboration between the University, industry partners, and the wider community.
