The Faculty of Social Sciences is pleased to congratulate Professor Tatia Lee, Chair Professor of Psychological Science and Clinical Psychology and May Endowed Professor in Neuropsychology, Department of Psychology, on receiving funding under the Research Grants Council's Strategic Topics Grant (STG) Scheme. Professor Lee will lead the project "An Integrated AI Solution for Large-Scale Improvement of Emotional Health among Older Populations: Risk Assessment of Depression and Intervention for Ageing Needs, Challenges, and Empowerment System (RADIANCE)." The project aims to harness artificial intelligence to enhance the emotional health of older adults through innovative methods for depression risk assessment and intervention. By providing a scalable and integrated solution, RADIANCE seeks to address the growing challenges associated with population ageing while empowering older adults to maintain psychological well-being and quality of life. The Faculty warmly congratulates Professor Lee and her team on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to the positive impact of the project on healthy ageing and mental health research. The Faculty of Social Sciences warmly congratulates Professor Liang Shunlin, Head & Chair Professor of the Department of Geography, on being awarded a Research Grants Council (RGC) Senior Research Fellowship for the 2026/27 academic year. Professor Liang's awarded project, "Advancing Multimodal AI for Socioeconomic Mapping Using Satellite and Geospatial Data," will develop a new generation of multimodal AI tools by integrating satellite observations, maps and diverse geospatial data to generate real-time socioeconomic indicators and support evidence-based decision-making for sustainable regional development. We extend our sincere congratulations to Professor Liang on this prestigious recognition.
