On June 5, 2026, the Faculty of Social Sciences successfully hosted its inaugural Teaching Mixer Salon, bringing together faculty members, students, members of the HKU community, and external counterparts for a dynamic exchange on innovative teaching practices at the intersection of artificial intelligence and social sciences.

The event featured engaging presentations from the 2025 Teaching Excellence Awardees, including Professor Eddie Chong, who highlighted the importance of centering lived experience in the age of AI, and Dr. Vivian Chu, who shared approaches to designing learning environments that cultivate student voice, critical thinking, and AI literacy. Their insights sparked thoughtful dialogue on how educators can adapt and enhance pedagogy in response to rapid technological developments.

The Salon series provide a vibrant platform for participants to exchange ideas, reflect on emerging challenges, and explore opportunities for advancing teaching and learning in a digital era. Discussions throughout the event underscored a shared commitment to fostering innovative, inclusive, and future-ready education.
The Faculty extends its sincere appreciation to the speakers, moderator Professor Samson Tse, and all participants for their valuable contributions. The conversations initiated at the Teaching Mixer Salon will continue to inspire collaboration and drive pedagogical innovation within our academic community.
