The FOSS Mentorship Programme continues to flourish with the steadfast support of our alumni community. This year, our network is stronger than ever. Over 220 mentors and mentees from a wide spectrum of sectors\u2014including finance, consulting, NGOs, healthcare, law, and government\u2014have come together with a shared purpose: to inspire and be inspired. Our mentors range from different walks of life, showcasing the enduring value of intergenerational learning and exchange.<\/p>\n

The ceremony opened with welcoming remarks from Professor Ming Wen, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Professor Wen encouraged student mentees to step outside their comfort zones, ask questions, and seek guidance not only on achieving success but also on understanding and learning from failure. She expressed heartfelt appreciation to our graduates for generously sharing their stories, experiences, and humanity to nurture the next generation of social scientists.<\/p>\n

Following the Dean\u2019s address, Professor Samson Tse, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education) moderated a panel discussion featuring four mentors and mentees from the previous cohort. They reflected on their mentorship journeys, highlighting both challenges and meaningful moments of growth. Professor Tse encouraged the incoming cohort to stay engaged, communicate openly, and take a proactive role in shaping their mentorship experience, emphasizing that sustained connection is key to making the most of the programme.<\/p>\n

The ceremony concluded with a lively networking and refreshment session, where mentors and mentees continued their conversations, exchanged insights, and began building new relationships for the year ahead. The Faculty looks forward to another impactful year of mentorship and to carrying forward the legacy of shared knowledge, support, and community across generations.<\/p>\n
