The lecture will briefly discuss major demographic challenges, with particular attention to the problem of \u201cgetting old before getting rich.\u201d The discussion will then turn to the connection between population ageing and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with reference to the main global framework: the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing.
