社會科學碩士（老年學）課程是亞洲地區唯一一個以社會老年學為主題的授課式研究生學位課程。課程重點涵蓋長者服務管理及與長者相關的社會政策分析，並強調全球視野及國際發展趨勢。課程內容將向學生介紹世界各地有關人口老化的先進研究、長者照顧服務及當代政策議題。此外，整個課程亦會強調成功老化及正向老化的觀點。
課程設計旨在為學生提供最新的理論框架、政策、實踐及行政技巧，讓他們能在不同專業領域中應用。除本學系的教學人員外，亦會邀請海外及本地專家擔任客席講師，舉辦講座及研討會，讓學生能從不同社會文化背景中擴闊知識和實務經驗。畢業生將掌握可轉移的技能及老年學專業知識，適合在社會福利、醫療健康、社會行政等相關領域發展事業，並擔任前線或中層管理職位。
