The Faculty of Social Sciences warmly congratulates Professor Liang Shunlin, Head & Chair Professor of the Department of Geography, on being awarded a Research Grants Council (RGC) Senior Research Fellowship for the 2026/27 academic year.
Professor Liang’s awarded project, “Advancing Multimodal AI for Socioeconomic Mapping Using Satellite and Geospatial Data,” will develop a new generation of multimodal AI tools by integrating satellite observations, maps and diverse geospatial data to generate real-time socioeconomic indicators and support evidence-based decision-making for sustainable regional development.
